Florence Nightingale - Year 2
Welcome to Florence Nightingale Class
Mrs Ponsford is our teacher.
Mrs Snowball is our teaching assistant.
We are a Year 2 class who loves to read! Stories, poems and books are a real favourite in this class.
Everyday we learn a new word that we try to use in our speaking and in our writing.
Year 2 is where we start to join our handwriting. We love to use pens to publish our work to a high standard.
We're also a very creative bunch- take a wander into our classroom to see some of our artwork displayed.
Come back to school for a bedtime story!
What are we learning about this term?
Homework in Year 2
To support children’s learning in school they should regularly practice skills at home.
Skills practice should be little and often- this is the best way to make new learning ‘stick’.
We hugely appreciate the support you give your child at home- it really does make a huge difference to your child’s progress.
Children should complete these tasks daily;
Reading -10 minutes.
Reading is a skill like any other- the more you practice the better you get! Reading at home is key to good progress in school. Children bring home a reading book every day. These are changed twice weekly. Please make sure you sign in the reading record then we can reward your child when they reach their reading milestones.
Children will also bring home a library book for you to share and enjoy every week.
Spellings -5 minutes
Children bring home new spellings to practice on a Friday. There is then a spelling test the following Friday.
Children are given spelling sheets where they can practice daily.
All children have a ‘Numbots’ login. Children can practice early maths skills here.
