Handa’s Surprise

Once upon a time there was a girl named Handa.
One day she put seven delicious fruits into a
basket for her friend Akeyo.
“She will be surprised” thought Handa.

Next she set off for Akeyo’s village.

“I wonder which fruit she will like best” said Handa.

Will she like this soft yellow banana?

Will she like this sweet smelling guava?

Will she like the round juicy orange?

Will she like the ripe red mango?

Will she like the spiky leaved pineapple?

We celebrated ‘Safer Internet Day’.

We read the story about the three little monsters. We felt sad that someone had said something unkind. We all thought of five grown-ups we could talk to if we were worried or saw something online that made us feel sad. We thought of kind compliments to give to each other.

Reception visit Fry's Farm

We had an outing to the farm with Mrs Luker and we loved it! We met rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, chickens and goats. We held a rabbit and stroked the ferret and the goat. Mrs Luker took the goat for a walk around the playground and we followed. It was really great fun.

Talk 4 Writing (Spring 1) – Mr Gumpy’s Outing

Once upon a time, there was a Man called Mr Gumpy. He lived in a little cottage by a river and had a boat.

One sunny day he decided to go out in his boat. “May we come with you?” asked The Children “Yes” said Mr Gumpy “but don’t squabble”

Next they saw a rabbit who said “Can I come too?” “Yes, but don’t hop about.” “I’d like a ride too” meowed the cat. “Ok” said Mr Gumpy “but you mustn’t chase the rabbit”.

Will you take me?” barked the Dog. “Yes” said Mr Gumpy. “but don’t tease the cat”. “May I come please?” oinked the Pig. “Ok, but don’t muck about”.

Have you a place for me?” bleated the sheep. “Yes, but don’t keep bleating.” “Can we come too?” squawked the chickens. “Yes, but don’t flap” Mr Gumpy said.

Can you make room for me?” mooed the Cow. “Yes, but don’t trample about”. “May I come too?” asked the Goat. “Ok, but don’t kick”

For a while they went happily along in the boat until….....

The goat kicked, the cow trampled, the chickens flapped, the sheep bleated, the pig mucked about, the dog teased the cat, the cat chased the rabbit, the rabbit hopped, the children squabbled and the boat tipped ……. and they all fell into the water!

So Mr Gumpy, the goat, the cow, the chickens, the sheep, the pig, the dog, the cat, the rabbit and all the children swam to the bank and climbed out to dry in the hot sun.

Eventually Mr Gumpy said, “Let’s walk home across the fields. It’s almost time for tea.”

After tea they all said goodbye. “Come for a ride again another day,” said Mr Gumpy. The End

Thank you to all those of you who helped with the Mischevious Gnome over the Christmas holidays. He was so naughty that he had lots of adventures… He climbed up the Christmas tree, he made a mess of a bedroom, he drove a Hotwheels car all by himself and he even climbed into the bearded dragon’s tank. He got up to lots of mischief.

The Mischievous Gnome

We have been learning the story ‘The Mischievous Gnome’. He has been up to all sorts of mischief at school, he ate Mrs O’Brien’s sweets and he jumped in the jelly. We are bringing a Mischievous Gnome home with us so we can tell our own stories over the Christmas holidays.
