We're going on a dinosaur hunt.
We're going to catch a big one.
What a beautiful day!
We're not scared.............and we weren't.
Look what we found!
So excited for all our new learning this term. 'Walking with dinosaurs'- we can't wait to get started! Keep checking here for photos of all our new learning!
PS- FYI- PE will now be on Monday afternoons.
Mercury class have been practising their sailor skills ready for our trip next week.
We practised climbing the rigging/ladders, walking the plank and climbing up ropes.
There are going to be some brilliant pirates sailing around Bristol next Thursday!!
Look at our brilliant houses. We had such fun making then. It’s a shame that they are all going to burn in the Great Fire of London- the Calne episode.
Parents Afternoon making our Stuart Street Scene
Thanks to all the wonderful parents who came in and helped us make our Stuart houses. We hope you had as much fun as we did.
Year 2 think maths is great fun, especially when we use smarties for our statistics work!
Great Fire of London artwork - February 2018
Mercury made silhouettes of the sky during the Great Fire of London. We learnt to mix water colours together to make the background, and then used black sugar paper to make the foreground.
Two Dimensional Shapes
Year 2 made 2d shapes using geoboards and elastic bands. Then they discussed their shapes names and properties with Mrs Foden.
We made delicious chocolate milkshakes. Next we are going to write instructions about how we did it. Check back in a few weeks to see our fabulous work!
Mercury have been learning about melting chocolate.
We had a competition to see what way melted the chocolate fastest. We tried rubbing, squeezing, breathing on it, and many other methods. Look at our results. We discovered that creating heat by rubbing our hands together worked best.
Our topic this term is ‘Amazing Animals’.
We started off our learning with a visit from some amazing animals. We really enjoyed meeting them and learning all about them. Later we found out which countries they came from. Then we used our maps to find the countries and made labels for them.
